Softball Recap: Mountain View Christian Takes a Loss

Mountain View Christian dropped their record down to 5-5 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Beaver Dam Diamondback by a score of 30-29. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (21), the Saints still had to take the loss.

Estela Manzano-Partida was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in four of her nine plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Galilea Sanchez, who got on base in four of her ten plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

As for Beaver Dam, with the victory, they broke their nine-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-15. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Beaver Dam's side, they let Crissy Medina and Madison Garcia run wild. Medina went 5-for-7 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs, while Garcia fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while getting on base in five of her eight plate appearances. Those five RBI gave Medina a new career-high. Breanna Yazzie was another key player, getting on base in three of her six plate appearances with four stolen bases, five runs, and one RBI.

Coming up, Mountain View Christian will face off against Indian Springs at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Thunderbirds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.61 runs per game on average), something the Saints will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Beaver Dam, they will take on Pahranagat Valley at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Diamondback will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least ten runs in their last six matchups.
