Soccer Game Preview: Johnsburg vs. Byron

The Johnsburg Skyhawks are taking a road trip to challenge the Byron Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Johnsburg proved they can win big last Monday (they won by five) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let Richmond-Burton get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. Give Johnsburg's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Elizabeth Smith, who's now up to 25 this season.

Meanwhile, Byron had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7 goals) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Princeton. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but Byron was the better team in the second half.

Byron's win bumped their record up to 16-3-2. As for Johnsburg, their victory bumped their record up to 12-0.
