Baseball Recap: Alpena Comes Up Short

Alpena came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Dow Chargers, falling 8-2. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Chargers earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

Alpena saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach Orban, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Alpena has also been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Dow, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5-1 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Alpena will venture away from home to square off against Rogers City at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Dow, they will head out to face off against Big Rapids at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Chargers 3.3, the Cardinals 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
