Softball Game Preview: Churchland Truckers vs. Kempsville Chiefs

Churchland is 0-3 against Kempsville since May of 2018 but things could change on Monday. The Truckers will venture away from home to face off against the Chiefs at 5:00 p.m. Churchland will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Two must be Churchland's lucky number: they beat Lake Taylor with that score not once but twice on Friday. The Truckers didn't even let the Titans on the board, marking the Truckers' second-straight 2-0 shutout.

Kempsville came out on top against Cox on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Chiefs were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Falcons. The result was nothing new for the Chiefs, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Churchland's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Kempsville, they moved to 10-7 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Churchland might still be hurting after the 13-4 defeat they got from Kempsville when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Truckers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
