Basketball Recap: Hammond Central Takes a Loss

The Hammond Central Wolves were beaten by Varsity Opponent 81-54 on Saturday. The Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Defeat or not, Hammond Central got some senior leadership from Semaj Davis and Zierre Taylor. Davis shot 50% from the field on his way to 20 points and eight rebounds, while Taylor went 7-for-10 en route to 17 points and six boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Davis has scored all season.

Hammond Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Hammond Central will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on East Chicago Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026. As for Varsity Opponent, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 78-50 loss against BigTyme Prep Academy on the 20th.
