Baseball Recap: Torrance Comes Up Short

Torrance was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Arcadia Apaches. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Apaches this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-6 last Monday.

Torrance got a good showing from Noah Hernandez, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Hernandez a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, Hector Chavez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Mateo Rickman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Torrance's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Arcadia, they pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Torrance will take on South at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Arcadia, they will challenge Burbank at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
