Soccer Game Preview: St. Paul's vs. Alexandria

The St. Paul's Wolves and the Alexandria Trojans will round out the year against one another at at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Paul's is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.9 goals per game this season.

St. Paul's is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Jackson Prep, who was ranked 17th in their home state at the time (St. Paul's was ranked ninth). St. Paul's beat Jackson Prep by a goal, winning 2-1.

Liam Murphy and Nico Gristina scored both of St. Paul's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Meanwhile, Alexandria might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting West Monroe an easy 5-2 victory. The Trojans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 4-0.

Alexandria has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5-1 record this season. As for St. Paul's, their win bumped their record up to 8-4-2.

St. Paul's took their victory against Alexandria in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 3-0. Will St. Paul's repeat their success, or does Alexandria have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
