Basketball Game Preview: Denbigh Patriots vs. Phoebus Phantoms

Denbigh is 0-10 against Phoebus since December of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Denbigh Patriots will face off against the Phoebus Phantoms at 5:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Denbigh is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Menchville and fell 96-10. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 357th, while the Monarchs are ranked 19th).

Meanwhile, Phoebus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They were dealt a 56-22 defeat at the hands of Warwick.

Denbigh's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Phoebus, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-11.

Denbigh was dealt a bruising 46-19 loss at the hands of Phoebus in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Denbigh avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
