Softball Recap: Holtville Continues Home Dominance on Monday

With a playoff win on the line, Holtville rose to the challenge on Monday. They blew past the Jemison Panthers 14-2. Considering the Bulldogs have won 12 contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Bailea Boone and Laylin Graham did most of the damage at the plate: Boone went 3-for-4 with six stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Graham went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Graham has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kylie Snowden, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Holtville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.

Holtville's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-15-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Jemison, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-12-1.

Holtville didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 5-0 defeat against Beauregard on the 5th. Jemison does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
