Softball Recap: Fountain Lake Wins Going Away Against Mills University Studies

Fountain Lake barely beat Mills University Studies the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cobras blew past the Comets 9-3 on Tuesday. The Cobras might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Abby Morgan made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and four runs. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ellie Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kinsley Burks, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Fountain Lake's record now sits at 8-12. As for Mills University Studies, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

Coming up, Fountain Lake will challenge Bauxite at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mills University Studies, they will face off against Jacksonville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
