Great Valley is 0-6 against Bishop Shanahan since May of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Patriots will square off against the Eagles at 3:45 p.m.
On Thursday, Great Valley came up short against Bayard Rustin and fell 5-2. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sarah Yost spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lily Mattison was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
Bishop Shanahan hadn't beaten Oxford on the road since April 3, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Eagles skirted past the Hornets 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since April 15, 2024.
Bishop Shanahan also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Hailey Shapiro gave up three earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Emma Bush was excellent, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Mikayla Palantino, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Bishop Shanahan and bumps their season record up to 7-14. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Great Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
Great Valley suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Bishop Shanahan in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
