Softball Game Preview: Mansfield Summit Jaguars vs. Joshua Owls

Mansfield Summit hasn't had much luck against Joshua recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Jaguars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Owls at 7:00 p.m. Mansfield Summit has given up an average of 10.7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mansfield Summit is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Centennial, falling 15-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Jaguars were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Joshua made easy work of Cleburne on Tuesday and carried off a 9-1 win. The Owls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by eight runs or more this season.

Isabella Lambert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kinlee Alexander, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Leilanie Sam, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Joshua has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Mansfield Summit, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mansfield Summit hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Joshua struggles in that department as they've averaged .369. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
