Softball Preview: Warhill Lions vs. Smithfield Packers

Warhill has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Smithfield Packers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Warhill is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 12.2 runs per game this season.

Warhill is hoping to deliver their fans another blowout on Monday, just like they did against Lafayette (and have done all season long). Warhill put the hurt on Lafayette with a sharp 26-1 win on Friday.

Skyler Wilson and Ella White made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Wilson tossed an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, White kept things locked down with no earned run or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. At the plate, Wilson scored four runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4, while White scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Warhill got a massive performance out of Mallory Herspold, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, five RBI, and a double. Another player making a difference was Payton Auerbach, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought contest, but Smithfield had to settle for a 10-9 loss against Grafton on Wednesday. Smithfield has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Warhill has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Smithfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
