Baseball Recap: Melbourne Triumphs

Melbourne won the last time they faced Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Bulldogs walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Tigers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Landon Barney looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Bryson Ayala was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Another player making a difference was Corbin Brown, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Melbourne was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy only posted a batting average of .259.

Melbourne's record now sits at 13-6. As for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Coming up, Melbourne is taking a road trip to face off against Sebastian River at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs are facing the Sharks at the right time seeing as the Sharks are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Calvary Chapel Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.13 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
