Basketball Recap: Living Rock Academy Comes Up Short

Living Rock Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 39-31 loss to the River City Believers Academy Soldiers. The Bobcat were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Soldiers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.

River City Believers Academy had a senior duo take command as Lukas Cox almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine steals and Brennen McGuire posted 12 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. Cox has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 20 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Paul Kane, who had three points and three steals.

Living Rock Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for River City Believers Academy, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-7.

Living Rock Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 36-18 defeat against Gateway Christian on the 4th. As for River City Believers Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-24 loss against Heritage Christian on the 4th.
