Football Recap: Westlake Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Westlake had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Highland Rams, posting a 47-14 victory. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 26-0.

Westlake's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was BOSTEN FOUNTAINE, who threw for 142 yards and a pair of TDs, and also punched in one rushing score. MALIK SIKA was in the mix as well, providing the Thunder with two touchdowns.

Westlake was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 260 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 155 rushing yards in five consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Westlake didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. JORDAN FAIRBANKS led the group effort, picking up three of those interceptions all by himself. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Westlake wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 45-19 victory against Pleasant Grove on the 22nd. As for Highland, they have also already played their next match, a 14-13 loss against Hunter on the 22nd.
