Basketball Recap: Compass Academy Takes a Loss

Compass Academy lost against Brownfield back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Compass Academy were dealt an 83-37 defeat at the hands of the Brownfield Cubs. While losing is never fun, Compass Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1183rd, while Brownfield is ranked 258th).

Compass Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Brownfield, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 20-7.

Compass Academy will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Denver City at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Denver City's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups. As for Brownfield, they will head out to square off against Lamesa at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Lamesa: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Brownfield has snatched up seven consecutive wins on the road.
