Preview: Liberty Chargers vs. Poinciana Eagles
Liberty is 0-10 against Poinciana since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Liberty Chargers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Poinciana Eagles at 7:30 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Liberty has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Poinciana will arrive with three straight victories.
Liberty lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They were beaten by Discovery 81-39. Liberty was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-19.
Liberty's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lamar Lee, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Lawrence Kelley who scored 11 points. Lee is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, Poinciana scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past New Dimensions, posting a 81-44 win at home. Poinciana has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 26 points or more this season.
Jordan Isaac continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 47 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Steven Bennett was another key contributor, almost dropping a triple-double on 13 points, 11 assists, and nine steals.
Liberty has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Poinciana, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4.
