Softball Recap: Shead Tigers vs. Calais Blue Devils
Shead extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 1-6 in the process. They came up short against the Calais Blue Devils, falling 20-10. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Blue Devils from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.
As for Calais, their victory ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-7. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the game before.
For Calais' part, they let Alexis Sulkowski and Ashaliegh Sulkowski run wild. Alexis went a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Ashaliegh went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most runs Ashaliegh has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Beal, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shead will host Machias at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Calais, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Narraguagus at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so the Blue Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
