Softball Recap: Tri Beats Knightstown for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Tri extended their winning streak to four on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 14-3 in the process. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Knightstown Panthers 9-7. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 back in March.

Ashton Richey made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lyla Williams was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ann Bean, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Knightstown, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since May 13, 2024.

On Knightstown's side, Lyla Trigg was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Paysen Hauk was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

Tri has already played their next contest, an 18-0 loss against Shenandoah on the 10th. As for Knightstown, they will take on Winchester Community at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Falcons have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
