Baseball Recap: Middletown Islanders vs. Burrillville Broncos
Middletown gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Burrillville Broncos a 3-0 shutout. The Islanders haven't had any issues with the Broncos recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Not much got past Evan LeVasseur, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Burrillville off the board.
At the plate, Middletown's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Johnson, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Middletown is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on East Greenwich at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Burrillville, they will face off against Woonsocket at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
