Basketball Recap: Von Steuben Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Von Steuben can now relate to. They fell just short of the Amundsen Vikings by a score of 39-36 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since February 19, 2024.

Leading Amundsen to victory were Cj Fortier and Amadeus Valdez. Fortier posted two points and 17 boards, while Valdez had seven points. Fortier is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played.

Von Steuben's defeat dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Amundsen, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Von Steuben will head out to challenge Glenbrook South at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Amundsen, they will head out on the road to take on King at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. King will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Amundsen surely won't give up without a fight.
