Volleyball Game Preview: American Fork Cavemen vs. Westlake Thunder

American Fork is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will venture away from home to take on the Westlake Thunder at 6:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.

American Fork not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 4th. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Fremont.

The final score came out to 25-5, 25-10, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Westlake faced Timpanogos in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Westlake put the hurt on Timpanogos with a sharp 3-0 win.

Westlake's got stronger as the match went on, holding Timpanogos to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-18, 25-14.

American Fork better focus on containing Keagan Cundiff and Talon Schank as the pair were huge in Westlake's win. Cundiff had 27 assists and eight digs, while Schank had 13 digs and two assists. Cundiff is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 18 or more in each of the last seven games he's played.

American Fork's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-6. As for Westlake, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2.

American Fork came out on top in a nail-biter against Westlake in their previous meeting two weeks ago, sneaking past 2-1. Does American Fork have another victory up their sleeve, or will Westlake turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
