Basketball Recap: Payton Clements' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Streamwood over Elmwood Park

Streamwood lost against Elmwood Park back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Streamwood Sabres fell to the Elmwood Park Tigers 58-54. The Sabres' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it eight in a row.

Several Sabres players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Payton Clements, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Clements a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Joseph Reyes, who went 5 of 10 en route to 16 points and three steals.

Streamwood's loss dropped their record down to 5-22. As for Elmwood Park, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-17.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Streamwood will host Round Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Streamwood is facing Round Lake at the right time seeing as Round Lake is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Elmwood Park, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Illinois Math & Science Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
