Basketball Recap: Nucla Mustangs vs. De Beque Dragons
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nucla). They walked away with a 65-53 victory over the De Beque Dragons on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Nucla was led to victory by Brycen Rummel and Holten McCluer. Rummel almost dropped a triple-double on 12 points, nine rebounds, and 11 assists, while McCluer went 11 of 14 en route to 23 points and five boards. Rummel has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 29 times he's played. Slade Gillen was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and ten boards.
Despite the loss, De Beque had strong showings from Burke Largent, who went 9 for 20 on his way to 23 points, and Jace Graham, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Travis Lewis also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.
The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 10-3. As for De Beque, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
Nucla wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 55-37 victory against Dolores on the 24th. De Beque has also already played their next game, a 79-43 win against West Grand on the 25th.
