The biggest upset of the week belonged to Greater Latrobe, who took down 262nd ranked Connellsville, 21-14.
McKeesport extended the longest winning streak in WPIAL AAAA Foothills this week by beating Kiski Area, 20-6. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Tigers.
Gateway's dynamic duo of Thomas Woodson and Montae Nicholson proved tough for Penn-Trafford to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Woodson threw for 321 yards and three touchdowns and Nicholson had 108 yards receiving. Todd Jeter helped Gateway's passing attack out by catching two balls for 98 yards.
D.J. Gearhart was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 19 carries, he ran for 122 yards as Hempfield Area topped the Warriors. DeLorian Day also contributed to the rushing game with 113 yards on the ground.
Gateway's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Gators feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Woodson has thrown for 1688 yards and 18 touchdowns this season, while Nicholson has 14 catches for 491 yards. Andre Martin leads the league in rushing with 647 yards.
A big matchup in WPIAL AAAA Foothills this week will be when Gateway takes on McKeesport. At the moment, Terry M Smith CAA's team is in first, while Jim Ward's team is in third.
The Wildcats moved up to 367 from 417 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Greater Latrobe was able to make move up by besting the Falcons 21-14.
