Football Recap: Chaminade Falls Short Against Ranked Iona Prep

Chaminade faced Iona Prep in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Flyers came up short against the Gaels, falling 33-9. Having soared to a lofty 45 points in the game before, the Flyers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Chaminade didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Shaye Sykes and Guiseppe DeVita.

Iona Prep had a senior duo take command as Crew Davis rushed for 137 yards and two TDs and Julian Guzman rushed for 122 yards and one score on only 12 carries. Those 122 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Guzman.

Chaminade's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Iona Prep, their victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0.

Chaminade didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 33-19 loss against St. Anthony's on the 18th. As for Iona Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 28-21 defeat against Monsignor Farrell on the 17th.
