Recap: Alexander Cougars vs. Newnan Cougars
The Alexander Cougars put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Newnan 89-45 on the road. Alexander's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Alexander to victory, but perhaps none more so than Allen Stoddard, who scored 20 points along with three steals and three blocks. Stoddard has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gregory Dunson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten assists.
Alexander's victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. As for Newnan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.
Alexander will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Holy Innocents Episcopal at 7:30 p.m. on December 27th. One thing working in Holy Innocents Episcopal's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matchups. Newnan won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against McIntosh at 5:00 p.m. on December 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (McIntosh is ranked 241st, while Newnan is ranked 234th).
