Softball Recap: Great Bridge Beats Cox for Their Seventh Straight Victory

While Great Bridge's victory against Cox wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Falcons 5-3. The win was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won seven games in a row.

Bailey Bliven spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, Madison Perry was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Hannah Ferrell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Great Bridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .407 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Great Bridge's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. As for Cox, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.

Great Bridge will head out to take on Deep Creek at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.3, the Hornets 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Cox, they will host Nansemond River at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
