Baseball Recap: Markesan Hornets vs. Pardeeville Bulldogs
Markesan dropped their record down to 9-7 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Pardeeville Bulldogs by a score of 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Hornets have suffered since April 3rd.
As for Pardeeville, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-4. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.9 runs.
For Pardeeville's part, Logan Young made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Young has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Eli Achterberg was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Preston Jenkins, who went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
