Softball Game Preview: Independence Blue Devils vs. South Range Raiders

The Independence Blue Devils are taking a road trip to take on the South Range Raiders at 8:00 a.m. on Friday. Independence is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Independence lost 11-1 to Paul VI on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that the Blue Devils have lost by exactly ten runs.

Lila Manfredonia put in work no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Manfredonia wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Paige Priebe, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, South Range got the win against Princeton on Thursday by a conclusive 13-2. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The win made it two in a row for South Range and bumps their season record up to 8-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Independence, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.
