Basketball Recap: Alcester-Hudson Triumphs

Alcester-Hudson waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 58-57 victory over the Garretson Blue Dragons. For the Cubs, this counts as revenge for the 50-45 win the Blue Dragons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Alcester-Hudson pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Garretson, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Alcester-Hudson will host Irene/Wakonda at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Irene/Wakonda knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Alcester-Hudson likes a good challenge. As for Garretson, they will square off against Lakota Tech at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Garretson is facing Lakota Tech at the right time seeing as Lakota Tech is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
