Soccer Recap: Hardin-Jefferson Comes Up Short

If Hardin-Jefferson was feeling good fresh off their 5-0 takedown of Silsbee last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was the Lumberton Raiders who were credited with the win on Monday. The Lumberton Raiders got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to the Hardin-Jefferson Hawks' three. The Hawks have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meetings.

Hardin-Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Lumberton, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hardin-Jefferson will challenge Little Cypress-Mauriceville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lumberton, they will take on Vidor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lumberton is on a four-game streak of home wins, Vidor a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the pitch.
