Baseball Game Preview: Mount Juliet Golden Bears vs. Lincoln County Falcons

The Mount Juliet Golden Bears will head out on the road to challenge the Lincoln County Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Mount Juliet turned things around against Gallatin on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Green Wave 6-5.

Matthew Dickey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tucker Griffith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Kolton Tench was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Lincoln County entered their tilt with Coffee County Central on Tuesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They blew past the Red Raiders 11-5. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.

Lincoln County pushed their record up to 20-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Juliet, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 5-15-1.
