Baseball Recap: Melbourne Find Success

Melbourne's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They skirted past the Wheaton Academy Warriors 5-4.

Noah Lopez looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Bryce Conner was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

Melbourne has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Wheaton Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Looking ahead, Melbourne will be playing in front of their home fans against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Wheaton Academy, they will square off against Cocoa Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Minutemen's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
