Owensboro Catholic dropped their record down to 17-12 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons by a score of 11-10. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Aces, who until this game were averaging 3.45 runs allowed.

Owensboro Catholic got a good showing from Lane Hundley, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Hundley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Brady Atwell made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Jake Murphy was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Madisonville-North Hopkins, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-11. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games.

On Madisonville-North Hopkins' side, Evan Wilson was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Wilson has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ryder Sandidge, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Owensboro Catholic will host Breckinridge County at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Aces 3.4, the Fighting Tigers 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Madisonville-North Hopkins, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Henderson County at 5:30 p.m.
