Softball Recap: Spring Lake's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

After flying high against Christian last Friday, Spring Lake came back down to earth. The Lakers lost 19-11 to the Grand Haven Buccaneers on Tuesday. The loss put an end to the Lakers' undefeated start to the season.

Khloe Melinn made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Melinn is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Raelyn Stratton was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Having lost for the first time this season, Spring Lake fell to 2-1. As for Grand Haven, they pushed their record up to 2-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Spring Lake will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fruitport at 4:00 p.m. on the 17th. The Trojans will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Lakers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Grand Haven, they will challenge Zeeland West at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Buccaneers are facing the Dux at the right time seeing as the Dux are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
