Football Recap: Drew Benassi and Karsten Fiene Secure Win for Lee's Summit

It was a proper cat-fight when Lee's Summit duked it out with Raymore-Peculiar on Friday. The Tigers took down the Panthers 31-14. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Leading Lee's Summit to victory were Karsten Fiene and Drew Benassi. Fiene rushed for 268 yards and three scores while picking up 14.9 yards per carry, while Benassi rushed for 153 yards and one TD while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Those 153 rushing yards gave Benassi a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lee's Summit was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 462 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Lee's Summit didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Marz Guein.

Lee's Summit picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 3-4. As for Raymore-Peculiar, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Lee's Summit will be playing in front of their home fans against Staley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will be up against the Falcons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.14 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Raymore-Peculiar, they will venture away from home to face off against Park Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
