Sardis' loss ends 11-game winning streak at home

Recap: Sardis Lions vs. Jacksonville Golden Eagles

The Sardis Lions fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Jacksonville Golden Eagles on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 60-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Eagles. It was the first time this season that Sardis let down their fans at home.

Leading Jacksonville to victory were Alexis Phillips and Halaina Lozano. Phillips scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Lozano scored 18 points. The contest was Phillips' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Deasia Prothro, who scored eight points.

Sardis' loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-5. As for Jacksonville, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season.

Sardis will be playing at home against Susan Moore at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Susan Moore is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Jacksonville, they will face off against Ramsay at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2024. Ramsay presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Jacksonville in Alabama (Ramsay is ranked 94th, while Jacksonville is ranked 222nd).
