Basketball Game Preview: Barrow Whalers vs. Nome-Beltz Nanooks

Barrow is 2-8 against Nome-Beltz since February of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Barrow Whalers will head out to face off against the Nome-Beltz Nanooks at 7:00 p.m. Barrow knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Nome-Beltz likes a good challenge.

Last Saturday, Barrow made easy work of Kotzebue and carried off a 65-44 victory. The win continues a trend for the Whalers in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Nome-Beltz blew past Bethel, posting a 67-33 victory. The Nanooks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 21 points or more this season.

Barrow's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points over those games. As for Nome-Beltz, their victory bumped their record up to 18-2.

Barrow came up short against Nome-Beltz in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 62-57. Can Barrow avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
