Basketball Recap: Benton Takes a Loss

If Benton was feeling good fresh off their 74-39 takedown of South Tama County last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Benton Bobcats were outmatched by the Clear Creek-Amana Clippers and fell 69-38. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 274th, while the Clippers are ranked 96th).

Benton has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.4 points per game. As for Clear Creek-Amana, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6.

Benton will square off against Williamsburg at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clear Creek-Amana, they are taking a road trip to challenge South Tama County at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
