Basketball Game Preview: Sahuaro Cougars vs. Walden Grove Red Wolves

The Sahuaro Cougars will face off against the Walden Grove Red Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Wednesday, Sahuaro ended up a good deal behind Salpointe Catholic and lost 55-38. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Lancers are ranked first).

Maggie Boyd put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted seven points in addition to 13 boards and three blocks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Biale Sika, who put up five points along with eight boards and five blocks.

Meanwhile, Walden Grove didn't have quite enough to beat Ironwood Ridge on Wednesday and fell 42-40. The Red Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sahuaro's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-7. As for Walden Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.

Sahuaro was able to grind out a solid victory over Walden Grove in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 61-50. Will Sahuaro repeat their success, or does Walden Grove have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
