Basketball Recap: Girard Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

Girard won the last time they faced Hubbard and things went their way on Monday too. The Girard Indians came out on top against the Hubbard Eagles by a score of 39-30.

Makenzee White was the offensive standout of the contest as she made all 7 shots she took racking up 16 points and seven rebounds. Caylee Wilkes was another key player, going 5 for 8 on her way to 11 points.

Despite the defeat, Hubbard saw an underclassman step up: freshman Layla Songer went 6 of 7 en route to 15 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Claire Murphy, who posted four points and five steals.

Girard's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points per game. As for Hubbard, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-8.

Girard wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 51-42 victory against McKinley on the 16th. As for Hubbard, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-40 defeat against Lakeview on the 16th.
