Baseball Recap: Mission Vista Takes a Loss

Mission Vista fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Ramona on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 7-6. The loss leaves Mission Vista still looking for their first win of the season.

Newten Burnside put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Burnside was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other pitching news, William Voigts was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Burnside wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Anderson Aumiller, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Quinten Mangohig also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Mission Vista's record now sits at 0-6. As for Ramona, the victory got them back to even at 2-2-1.

Coming up, Mission Vista will be taking part in a tournament against Escondido at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Escondido's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Mission Vista's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Ramona, they are taking a road trip to take on Fallbrook at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Ramona 4, Fallbrook 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
