Recap: Cross Trojans vs. Lake Marion Gators

After a string of four wins, the Cross Trojans's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a hard 74-56 fall against Lake Marion. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cross has scored all season.

When it comes to explaining why Cross lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dominick Lampkin. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with three steals. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. Micah Flute was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds.

Lake Marion was led to victory by Breion Shivers and Mason Miles. Shivers scored 17 points along with six assists and five steals, while Miles dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Miles also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Smith, who scored 11 points.

Cross' defeat dropped their record down to 4-1. As for Lake Marion, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-4.

Cross will head out on the road to face off against Timberland at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Timberland is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Lake Marion won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Orangeburg-Wilkinson at 6:00 p.m. on December 9th. Orangeburg-Wilkinson is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
