Basketball Recap: Sterling Classical Takes a Loss

Sterling Classical was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by the Providence Prep Rams 64-34. While losing is never fun, the Soldiers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1651st, while the Rams are ranked 629th).

Asa Jackson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Providence Prep, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Jackson a new career-high in steals (six). Another player making a difference was Maddox Billman, who posted ten points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Sterling Classical's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Providence Prep, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Methodist Children's Home the next time they take the court. Providence Prep will host Methodist Children's Home at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Sterling Classical will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
