Baseball Recap: HCYA Snags Ninth Win in Last 12 Games

HCYA never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Varsity Opponent on Tuesday. They blew past Varsity Opponent 16-1. HCYA might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.

Rome Gatlin looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, HCYA let Tyler Welch and Caden Steele run wild. Welch got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, while Steele went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs Steele has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Parish, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

HCYA is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-16 record this season.

HCYA didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 win against Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes Storm Black on the 29th. Varsity Opponent has also already played their next match (against Neighborhood House Charter), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
