Baseball Recap: Faith Christian Academy Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Faith Christian Academy). They never let Jacksonville Christian Academy get on the board and left with a 23-0 victory on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what Faith Christian Academy needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Jessie Carrillo made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Faith Christian Academy let Andrew Kelly and Ben Reese run wild. Kelly went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs, while Reese went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those six RBI gave Kelly a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gavin Rands, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

Faith Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .806. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Faith Christian Academy pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.7 runs over those games. As for Jacksonville Christian Academy, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Faith Christian Academy will welcome Bethel Assembly Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Jacksonville Christian Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on New Bern Christian Academy at 3:30 p.m. on the 15th.
