Basketball Recap: Victory Christian Comes Up Short

Victory Christian lost against Sacramento Waldorf back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Victory Christian Vikings lost 56-32 to the Sacramento Waldorf Waves. The matchup marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Victory Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Luke Smith posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Daniel Kapelkin, who earned eight points.

Leading Sacramento Waldorf to victory were Liam Mason Melberg and Malachi Miranda. Mason Melberg put up 18 points and three steals, while Miranda almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Miranda a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Liam Aldwinckle, who had eight points and six rebounds.

Victory Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Sacramento Waldorf, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.

Victory Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-59 victory against Foresthill on the 14th. As for Sacramento Waldorf, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 36-26 win against John Adams Academy Rsvl/Lin on the 14th.
