Football Recap: Myrtle Beach Takes a Loss

Myrtle Beach lost against Irmo back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Seahawks had to suffer through a 59-21 loss at the hands of the Yellow Jackets. While losing is never fun, the Seahawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 56th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked fourth).

Irmo's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amire White, who rushed for 146 yards on only 14 carries. Another pass catcher making a difference was Maleek Miller, who picked up 158 receiving yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Myrtle Beach and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Irmo, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Myrtle Beach has already played their next contest, a 28-21 win against Cane Bay on the 26th. As for Irmo, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lexington at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. This will be the Yellow Jackets' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
